When we pray to God, we can be confident of this: If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

And if we know that God hears us, we know that we have whatever we ask for.

In fact, this is what it means to love God: to obey his commands. And his commands aren’t hard to obey, because everyone who’s a child of God has won the battle over the world. Our faith has won the battle for us.

Whoever has the Son has life. Whoever doesn’t have the Son of God doesn’t have life.

I’m writing these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you’ll know you have eternal life.

We know that anyone who is God’s child will not sin continually. The Son of God keeps them safe, and the evil one can’t harm them.
