And the zera sown upon the rocky places is the person listening to the Dvar HASHEM and immediately with simcha receives it. Yet he has no root in himself but is short-lived, and when ES TZARAH comes or persecution on account of the Dvar HASHEM, immediately he ceases being a maamin Meshichi (Messianic believer) and becomes meshummad (apostate), falling away and giving up the faith.
