How will you prepare to celebrate the birth of the Savior this year? Many people have traditions such as listening to Christmas music, sending cards, decorating a tree, or reading the Christmas story. During this Advent devotion, we'll be looking at 5 different responses from people who were present for the coming of Jesus and we'll look at how they prepared for His arrival. We'll now look at Simeon’s response.

There’s a common thread between the strongest and most courageous women in Scripture: they held onto their faith no matter their circumstances and believed in the miraculous. The aim of this devotion is to help you put a little bit of "Awe and Wonder" back into your celebration as you contemplate and celebrate the birth of Jesus from a child-like faith. During this special time of Christmas celebration, may you prepare your heart to prepare Jesus even more room all year through.

Game systems… new clothes… snacks that are honestly kind of gross but we eat them because it’s tradition… We are talking about GIFTS! Over the next few days, we will be focusing in on the greatest gift we could ever hope to receive: the Savior of the world… Jesus!

Ever thought much about Joseph of Nazareth? Jesus had to be conceived by the Holy Spirit but raised to manhood by an earthly father. Joseph’s purpose was to raise Jesus and make a man of the Son of God. Let’s learn from the man who raised our eternal Hope. Let’s reflect on how we as men can also raise hope for generations to come by being selfless and intentional mentors.

We will look at Luke’s version of the Christmas story, with historical insights from Kenneth Bailey’s "Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes" (IVP, 2008). We will discover in it the surprising ways God was at work in the world. Then, we will ask God to open our eyes and ears so that we may not miss His work in our world today.
