Instructions Concerning Prayer
1Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone, 2for kings and for all who are in authority, # Ezr 6:10 that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty, 3for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, # Lk 1:47; 1Ti 1:1 4who desires all men to be saved # Eze 18:32; Titus 2:11 and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, # Dt 6:4; 1Co 8:6; Gal 3:20 6who gave Himself as a ransom for all. # Mk 10:45 This was the testimony given at the proper time. # 1Co 1:6; 1Ti 6:15 7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and do not lie), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. # Ac 9:15; 2Ti 1:11
8Therefore I desire that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, # Ps 134:2 without wrath or contentiousness. 9In like manner also, that women clothe themselves in modest clothing, with decency and self-control, not with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing, 10but with good works, which is proper for women professing godliness.
11Let a woman learn in silence with all obedience. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to usurp authority over a man, but to be silent. # 1Co 14:34 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. # Ge 2:7, 22 14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, being deceived, # Ge 3:6; 2Co 11:3 fell into sin. 15Yet she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, # 1Ti 1:14 and holiness, with self-control.
