Luke 10:25 (NLT)
One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”

1. Here we have a question on eternal life.

a. your eternal life began when you got saved, not when you get to heaven

Luke 10:26 (NLT)
Jesus replied, “What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?”

2. So Jesus knew that this guy already know the answer.

Luke 10:27 (NLT)
The man answered, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

3. Many focus on loving others and fail the second half.

a. love yourself

4. Because the majority of believers do not love themselves, they miss out on many on the blessings of life.

a. it is called ‘feeling unworthy’

Unworthy - feeling or deeming oneself to be deserving or not good enough

- not worth the effort, attention or respect

Luke 10:28 (NLT)
“Right!” Jesus told him. “Do this and you will live!”

5. But Jesus said that;Yes - you should love your neighbor and

Yes -you should love yourself

6. Most people wrestle with feelings of unworthiness because of an inability to love themselves

Galatians 5:14 (MSG)
For everything we know about God's Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That's an act of true freedom.

7. Loving yourself feels unnatural because your mind has been ingrained with self sabotaging thoughts for the longest time.

8. Their thoughts of inadequacy interfere with their faith’

a. in this case is was a small matter of a loaf of bread

Matthew 16:8 (KJV)
Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

9. When you do not love yourself and suffer from low self esteem/loathing, it becomes difficult to reach the potential that God has for you.

a. your thoughts, memories, self criticism hinders your ability to do things by faith

b. you end up believing that God is not doing anything for you when the truth is your not expecting Him to because of how you feel and see yourself

James 2:8 (KJV)
If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

10. Most of our troubles stem from the stories we tell ourselves.

11. We are breaking a Royal Decree when we don’t love ourselves as well.

12. Here we see if we do begin to love ourselves...we do well!

3 John 1:2 (KJV)
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

13. Soul prosperity causes a healthy lifestyle as well as a happy life (prosper).

Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

14. Unworthiness repels the blessings. Love attracts the blessings.

a. most people don’t have a devil problem...

b. they have uncontrolled thought problems

Romans 8:6 (MSG)
Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life.

15. So we see that allowing ourselves to be consumed by our past mistakes, behaviors and decisions can be a blessing blocker.

Romans 8:7 (MSG)
Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing.

16. When you don’t love yourself, you are basically telling God that you are unworthy or undeserving of any love or positive outcomes.

Romans 8:8 (MSG)
And God isn't pleased at being ignored.

17. Moving right along...

Romans 8:9 (MSG)
But if God himself has taken up residence in your life, you can hardly be thinking more of yourself than of him. Anyone, of course, who has not welcomed this invisible but clearly present God, the Spirit of Christ, won't know what we're talking about.

18. So the question is; Are you focused on...

a. God who qualified you...or

b. the words, treatment and behaviors of your past

BEGINNING STEPS TO OVERCOMING UNWORTHINESS______________

19. Is there a little voice inside your head that often tells you that you are no good because you are stupid or make mistakes?

#1. Eliminate Self Criticism___________________________________
20. Do you often berate yourself over the smallest of things?

21. If you find that you often judge yourself, make an effort to stop the self criticism.

a. how

Ephesians 5:19 (KJV)
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

22. Start by refocusing on God and start worshiping God.

a. your brain can’t do both

23. Every negative thought should be your cue to start singing.

#2. FORGIVE YOURSELF_____________________________________

24. Someone once said...“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.”

25. If you have made mistakes in the past that had caused you to feel less worthy, then you need to forgive yourself.

26. If you have been carrying around a baggage of emotional hurt because of a childhood trauma, forgive yourself.

#3. MAKE A POSITIVE CONFESSION ABOUT YOURSELF_____________

2 Corinthians 4:13 (MSG)
We're not keeping this quiet, not on your life. Just like the psalmist who wrote, "I believed it, so I said it," we say what we believe.

27. Renew your mind with positive confessions, not worthless obsessions.

Luke 12:19 (KJV)
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

28. Say this to yourself (your soul):

“Because of God’s unconditional love for me,
I choose to love and accept myself completely and unconditionally as well.”

#4. ACCEPT YOURSELF JUST THE WAY YOU ARE________________

Revelation 4:1 (KJV)
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

29. This is the Apostle John experiencing the rapture.

a. what sound are we waiting for....a trumpet

b. when the trumpet sounds, where are we going...up

Revelation 4:6 (KJV)
And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

30. The crystal sea is you and I along with the others in the rapture.

31. Seeing that we are compared to a crystal sea shows that any flaws that we may think we have are not really there in the eyes of God.

a. so compared to God’s view of us, we have been lying o ourselves

#5. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR SOUL____________________________

Luke 21:19 (NLT)
By standing firm, you will win your souls.

32. When you make a decision to love yourself, you are really saying that you want to come alive.

33. Are you ready to start living?

34. Are you ready to be blessed?

35. Reverse your polarity and become a blessing magnet!
