GOD’S INTENTION
When there is much cultural confusion regarding our identity, we have to ask God what he intended for us. When God created humans, he stopped speaking and started breathing Everything we do, we do as an integrated and spiritual being.
GOD’S IMAGE
Creation in God’s image answers the three major questions of life:
1. Identity: who am I?
2. Purpose: why am I here?
3. Design: how should I live?
IMAGE CHANGES EVERYTHING
1. WORSHIP: Our relationship with God is different
In the Hebrew language there is no word for spiritual. Our entire being is characterized as creation worshiping the creator
2. COMMUNITY: Our relationship with Others is different
“Another Christian concept, but one no less crazy is the concept of equality of souls before God. This concept furnished the prototype of all theories of equal rights.” Friedrich Nietzsche
3. SERVING: Our relationship with the World is different
As God’s image bearers, men and women are given the task to help God steward the proper ordering of creation (Genesis 1.26-31) by working and keeping the earth (Genesis 2.15).
APPLICATIONS
We all believe the truth of the Imago Dei because there is an echo in our soul that lets us know that we are more valuable than the rest of the created order. This is why most morally deplorable acts, at the root, are an Imago Dei issue.
