There is a drift in life – The drift in the World is contrary to God

We must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. Hebrews 2:1
In the Midst of a Changing World– The Lord Wants Your Heart
There are Ways We Need to Change & Ways we Must Remain Steadfast (Set)
“Set” Things that Ought Not Change
We Are “of Faith” – I believe God & I live what I Believe (Faith & Faith-fulness)
Galatians 3:7 “…be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.”
1 Timothy 6:11-12 “ pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance . 12 Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, …”
Hebrews 12:1-2 “…since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endur- ance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith,
2 Corinthians 13:5Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith examine yourselves!
·
Take your faith in Christ Out Into Life and Try it – You won’t fail the test
We are His Workmanship Ephesians 2:10
We Are His witnesses – Acts 1:8
We All Have a Gift to Use - 1 Peter 4:7-11
Things that Need to Change – We Need to Let It All Go – Put It All Away
We Have Authority to Do What the Word Commands

Put Away

Wrath – Passion / Hot Anger (Thumos),
Anger (Orge) 2) “agitation of the soul, impulse, desire, any violent emotion, but especially anger”,
Clamor – Outcry,
Slander – “…reproachful injurious speech,”
Malice – “ill-will, desire to injure…wickedness that is not ashamed to break laws…evil, trouble”
We have authority over our own spirit, in any circumstance - to be the “different” ones.

To Be:

Kind - Useful, virtuous, good, mild, benevolent, pleasant (as opp. to harsh, hard sharp, bitter)
Tender-hearted – “Good strong intestines” – Compassionate (Love others easily)
Forgiving To do something pleasant or agreeable, to do a favor to, to show one’s self gracious, kind, benevolent, to grant forgiveness, to pardon
Beware The little, hard to notice Changes – Which Direction Are They Taking Us?

Small Steps - that new word we’ve been using, a new thought that doesn’t sit right

Where do we stand? (At least a little bit to the good side of center)

o If you don’t want to fall “that” way, then you lean “this” way
So, “What Are We Becoming, AND How Do We Make the Changes and Maintain the “Sets”
Timothy was in the midst of Pagans – Listen to the instructions he is given
·
Give attention to declaring the truth – we are always “Declaring”
·
Pay Close attention to yourself and what you are teaching – We are always “Teaching”
o Take pains / Be absorbed - to care for, attend to carefully, practice,
to meditate, i.e. to devise, contrive; to revolve in the mind (Positive
Distraction?)

o Why do we want our “progress / benefit” to be evident?

o Crisis Mode – we shift when we hit it – So pay close attention to
yourself

o Persevere – Not just for yourselves – you have an audience
Admonitions About How to Persevere in Faith
