Matthew 9:1

What city was that?

Bethlehem?....City of David, House of Bread, Bread of Heaven...Church of Nativity

Nazareth?....Matthew 2:23...where Jesus grew up

Matthew 2:19-23

Capernaum...:"city of comfort" Matthew 4:13.../ 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”[a]
17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

On another occasion word spread that Jesus was teaching in a certain Capernaum home. The building was soon packed with people. Four men carrying a paraplegic wanted to have Jesus heal their friend but could not get to him due to the crowd of people. They decided to go on top of the house and dig their way through the roof. Once they had opened a sufficiently large enough hole they slowly lowered their friend's pallet in front of where Jesus was sitting. Seeing their great faith, Jesus immediately healed their friend and said his sins were forgiven.

At least five of the twelve apostles Jesus called to follow him lived in Capernaum - James and John (brothers), Andrew and Peter (brothers) and Matthew.

Matthew 9:2-8
