A few years ago at one of our Pastors Fellowship our guest speaker was Pastor Robert Jeffries from Texas. Pastor Jeffries shared his personal observation regarding our great nation of the US and it's comparison to a coming implosion. As we have been studying and learning about the true Gospel of Jesus Christ we want to see how we can avoid this implosion and ask ourselves "What kind of people should we be" in this age that we live in.
Key Scripture – Galatians 1:6-9
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!
Psalm 33:12 – Blessed is the nation
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.
Note – Our Nation Moving Away From God
We as a nation are moving away from God as a nation instead of closer. So what are we to do?
II Peter 3:3-14 – What Kind Of People Should We Be?
3 First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. 11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. 14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
I want to give you 5 ways that can help us to keep ourselves from being a part of an upcoming implosion.
1. People Will Mock and Scoff And Follow Their Own Ways – v3-4

2. God Is Patient – v8-9
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
3. Jesus’ Will Return Like A Thief – V10
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.
4. We Ought to live holy and godly lives – V11-12
11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.
5. We Want To Be Found Spotless and Blameless – V14
14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
