Life Group Questions for July 31, 2016

Ice Breaker: What's the biggest fixer upper project that you have ever taken on? How long did it take you? What were the results?

Read Nehemiah Chapter 8

1. Define Revitalization and Revival: How do you view the two differently? How do you view them the same?

2. Have you ever participated in a Revival? Share some of your observations from it.

3. In what ways do you think living among the rubble of the walls effected the people of Jerusalem for so many years?

4. The people finished the wall and set the gates in place. They moved back into the city. What are some things you think prompted them to ask for the reading of the Law of Moses from Ezra?

5. How important is it for you to understand the Scriptures? What do you do when you don't understand them?

6. What do you think are some reasons people lift their hands in Worship or physically let the music and words prompt them to worship, like when the Jews as one said, "Amen, Amen..." and bowed to the ground.

7. As the people of Jerusalem came "as one" to the Water Gate to hear the Law of Moses read, in what ways does this help us as a Church to include everybody?

8. As the Word was read the people were weeping and grieving. The people were convicted of their own sins. In what ways does God use his Word and the hearing of His word to convict his people now?

9. Is there a difference between conviction and shame and guilt?

10. From weeping Nehemiah and Ezra urged the people to celebrate and share the choicest of food with those without. In what ways does compassion help us to experience revitalization and revival? How does this act intersect with what we hope to accomplish in the 21 days remaining of our 52 Days of Faith Campaign?

Pray that our church might experience revitalization and revival as we begin to remodel our campus and invite people in.
