Discussion and Application Questions for Group Life Communities
We invite you to use the following questions as you prepare for your Group Life community meetings this week. If you would like to participate in a group life meeting contact us at info@pnconline.org. New groups are starting on Monday and Thursday evenings at 6:30pm.
Read John 4.43-54
Observation: (be curious, imagine yourself in the story)
-What do you learn about the man who comes to Jesus? Why are the details important? v 46
-What do you notice about the interaction between Jesus and the government official? v 47-49
-How would you describe the man’s response and attitude after Jesus says ‘Go back home. Your son will live?' v. 50-53
Interpretation: (uncover the 'why' behind the story, why are certain details included)
-Jesus says, ‘Will you never believe in me unless you see miraculous signs and wonders?’ Why does he say this? v48
-Jesus tells him ‘go back home.’ What can you relearn about faith and trust in Jesus from the man’s response to Jesus’ command?
-What is the difference in the man’s belief in v51 and v53?
Application: (connect the message to your personal life)
-The man shows desperation in v 49….Is there an area of your life that you are desperate for Jesus to show up?
-Jesus tells the man to ‘go back home.’ Sometimes we have trouble believing because we haven’t believed in what Jesus has already told us to do. Where in your life do you need to obey in order to see something miraculous happen?
