SDCF North - April 5th Sunday Worship

SDCF North - April 5th Sunday Worship

On the cross we see a picture of suffering, shame, and isolation. Yet, from that cross Jesus still ministered with truth, forgiveness, and love. May we learn these lessons from the cross and respond in adoration and a heart to participate in His plan of redemption.

LYRICS FOR TODAY'S SONGS

This Is Amazing Grace
Verse 1
Who breaks the power of sin and darkness
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory the King above all kings

Verse 2
Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory the King above all kings

Chorus
(Yeah) (Oh) This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You laid down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh Jesus I sing for all that You've done for me

Verse 3
Who brings our chaos back into order
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory the King of Glory

Verse 4
Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory the King above all kings

Bridge
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy worthy worthy

How Deep The Father's Love For Us
Verse 1
How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory

Verse 2
Behold the Man upon a cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

Verse 3
I will not boast in anything
No gifts no pow’r no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

SERMON NOTES:

Luke 23:26-31

1. JESUS RESPONDED TO PITY WITH PROPHECY

Luke 23:1-32

2. JESUS RESPONDED TO CRUELTY WITH FORGIVENESS

Luke 23:39-43

3. JESUS RESPONDED TO A HUMBLE PETITION WITH A GRACIOUS PROMISE.
-Even in the midst of his great pain, shame, and suffering, Jesus selflessly ministered to others in the role of PROPHET, PRIEST, & KING.

How Should We Respond to these Lessons from the Cross?

1. ADORATION
2. PARTICIPATION

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, o my soul
