Jesus Christ, Immanuel

Jesus Christ, Immanuel

According to the Apostle Paul (in 2 Timothy 3:14-17), all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable…and points to Jesus Christ! But does that really include the Old Testament? We may be tempted to believe Jesus' story starts in the Gospels, after He was born into this world. But in fact, from the beginning (and even before the beginning), God knew we'd choose sinful separation from Him, and He had a plan to rescue us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. In the weeks leading up to Easter, we'll be exploring just a small handful of the Old Testament passages that clearly foreshadowed and foretold the story of God's rescue plan. By His grace, we'll see in these accounts the wisdom, beauty, creativity, and self-sacrifice of our God, leading us to treasure Him more!

Next Week's Text

In this historical moment where hope is threatened by fear, uncertainty, loss, and grief, we can learn from the wisdom of others who found hope in the midst of despair. We'll examine a man's words in Lamentations 3:19-27 and ultimately end up at an empty tomb – God's most profound demonstration of his steadfast love and mercies which are new every morning! The resurrection is a beautiful reminder that hope springs from even the deepest hurt. He is risen! He is risen indeed!
