Since the fall in the garden, man has struggled with spiritual self-sufficiency.
Because of the resurrection, we have a hope of eternity today. The resurrection was necessary for us; but was not necessary for God. Our fate could have been rightfully sealed in the garden. Condemnation could have hung over man for all of eternity, but God looked upon the very creation that spurned Him for the delusion of self-sufficiency -- and said, "I love you; you are worth it. Come home."
