What is your level of anxiety and worry right now (scale of 1-10)?
God does not intend for us to be joyless worriers.
Matthew 6:25-34;
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
What we DON’T know is what causes us to worry.

In these verses, Jesus is naming what we DO know!
2 Corinthians 5:7; For we live by faith, not by sight.

If we focus only on our problems, we lose sight of the true size of our God!
Matt. 6:25-27; Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

1 Peter 5:7, Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
Phil. 4: 6-7 (NLT); Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Matt. 6:31-33; So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Our worries reveal our true priorities.
Seek first the kingdom of God.
It means to remember our hope of heaven.
Phil. 1:21, For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
The following statements are derived from the insights of Dr. Darrell Johnson, professor of pastoral theology at Regent College in Vancouver.)
We are being confronted with the reality of just how vulnerable we are.
This is a reminder that we are not in control of our existence and need God.
“The sooner we learn we are not in control of everything the better it goes for our souls!” -Donald Baillie
God may want to minimize our excessive divisions and divisiveness.
Many more are crying out to God for healing and mercy.
