The Gift Of Promise
God's children are children of the promise which God made to Abraham and which is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. This is significant because it means that followers of Christ live, not simply by the law, but by faith in God who can do more than we can think of imagine!

Worship Through Giving

Giving back to God is a regular expression of worship, gratitude and praise.  See our giving options. Offering Prayer: God thank you for everything that you have provided to us. We give back to you as an expression of worship, gratitude, and praise for who you are. You are a good good father. Thank you that through this challenging time, we are assured that we do not need to worry, but trust that you will provide for our needs. Help us to be generous with what you have given, and lead us into opportunities to bless and serve others with the resources you have given to us. In Jesus' name. Amen

Pastor Rob - The Gift of Promise

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWFKkkxEl6k
What is a Promise? It is a declaration or assurance that someone will do a particular thing or that a particular thing will happen.

The critical thing isn’t what is being promised, it’s the person making the promise.

God’s Promise to Abraham had 3 parts:
- The Promise of Land.
- The Promise of a Family.
- The Promise of Blessing.

The Gift of the Promise was God’s plan to bless the world through a new covenant family.

Through Jesus, His life, death and resurrection, God has fulfilled His Promise to bless the world.
Some of God’s Promises for us today:
- 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

- John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.”

- Phil 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His Glory in Christ Jesus.”

- Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

- Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the Peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

What other promises can you think of from God’s word? Which one do you need to be reminded of this week?

What keeps us from trusting that God’s promises are true?
Paul wrote to the church in Rome which had both Jewish and Gentile believers.
- The Jewish Christians believed God’s promise of blessing was only for them.
- Paul’s message to them: We are Blessed to BE a Blessing!
- The Gentile Christians believed they could receive God’s gift of blessing without it changing the way they lived.
- Paul’s message to them: How we live matters!
1. Take some time and write down all the ways you have already been blessed by God. (Read 2 Peter 1:1-4)

2. What are some practical ways we could show love to our neighbors during this season of social distancing?

3. Who do you know who is isolated, vulnerable, or lonely? How could you bless them this week?

4. If we committed to loving and blessing people through this difficult season, what could it look like when this pandemic is over?
What is God saying to you in all of this?
What are you going to do about it?
