Beyond Sunday
Based on the unique circumstances that we find ourselves in regarding the Coronavirus pandemic, we are taking a break from our 1 Peter Exiles series. Instead, until Easter, our focus will be on 5 verses from Paul’s writings in Philippians. After you watch Sunday's message online, our hope is that these questions would lead you along the path of peace so that you discover calm in the chaos.

1. Gary, our Lead Pastor, referred to this season we are in as a “perfect storm.” Describe the storm clouds (negatives) you are seeing and some of the blue sky (positives) that is breaking through.

2. Last week, we were called to relentless rejoicing and public gentleness in Philippians 4:4-5. This week, our focus is Philippians 4:6-7. What is God calling us to do through Paul’s writings? And what is the outcome if we do so?

3. What has been your experience been with prayer? Inconsistent, steady, or in between? What holds you back from praying “in every situation? “ How does Proverbs 3:5-6 relate to these same concepts of “in every situation” and “transcends all understanding” found in Philippians 4:6-7?

4. To be anxious, to fret, or to worry is to have a “divided mind.” Paul tells us to “present your requests to Him” to help stop this division. What is your best way to get your anxiousness out to God? How often do you need to do it? How could including thankfulness help?

5. Two of the almost 8,000 promises in the Bible for you include Philippians 4:7 and John 16:33. As you reflect on each, what is the protection God and Jesus are offering you? Moving forward daily, what steps must you take to receive it? Write a prayer of thanks, confession of fret, and then ask Him to solidify your steps to receive His protection.

Our Lenten Daily Prayer

God, send me. Use me. I'm not asking for details. I don't need to know the benefits, or if it will be easy, or if I will enjoy it.

Because of who You are -- my God, my King, my Savior -- I trust You. Because You are sovereign over the universe, I surrender my will to You, every part of me.

Take my mind, my eyes, my mouth, my ears, my heart, my hands, and my feet and guide me toward Your will.

I trust You, God. My answer is yes. Now what's the question?
Memorize this verse:
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
