The Great Shaking
Text: 1 Sam 5, Due 32:31
1 Sam 5:1 When the Philistines captured the ark of God, they brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. 2 Then the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it into the house of Dagon and set it up beside Dagon.
3 And when the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen face downward on the ground before the ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and put him back in his place.
4 But when they rose early on the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen face downward on the ground before the ark of the Lord, and the head of Dagon and both his hands were lying cut off on the threshold. Only the trunk of Dagon was left to him. 5 This is why the priests of Dagon and all who enter the house of Dagon do not tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.
6 The hand of the Lord was heavy against the people of Ashdod, and he terrified and afflicted them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territory. 7 And when the men of Ashdod saw how things were, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel must not remain with us, for his hand is hard against us and against Dagon our god.

Due 32:31 their rock is not as our Rock”
Times of shaking cause those things in your life that are worthless to be removed, and invites you to rediscover those things that really matter.
“All week long I’ve noticed something fairly abnormal. At least at the level it’s happening. I’ve noticed daily tons of full family’s taking walks in our neighborhood. Full families throwing frisbees and riding bikes around the house.
Yes it’s because workplaces are empty right now and I don’t diminish the impact this can have the longer it goes. However, I’m also thinking how impactful in a positive way the current difficulty in our world can be.
How?
Well, workplaces are empty, but households are full. Take advantage of it! Make the most of it. Trust God fully and be with your family fully. You might one day look back on this challenging season with some of the most cherished memories of your life.”

This is the Mercy of God… He doesn’t allow mixture.
America has always turned back to God during times of great trouble
America don’t miss the message in the moment… let go of the worthless things… don’t rebuild these idols… let them lie in ruin and turn back to God. Let this Great Shaking, produce within you a Great Awakening!
In the Great Shaking, what Cannot be Shaken is revealed!
91 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

To weather a storm, you must take
1) Refuge in Christ our Rock
2) Refuge in One Another

Here is the promises for those who seek refuge in Christ
vs 3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.
vs 7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
vs 9 Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my refuge—
10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.
There is a Rock.. That can not be shaking… a refuge in the storm to which you must retreat and find safety and provision within
When you find Dagon lying on the floor… leave him there in pieces and look to the One who remains!
