Kalamazoo First Assembly of God
Tabernacle: “Getting Past the Surface”
How does an ancient tent in the wilderness of Sinai relate to our relationship with God? The description of the tabernacle, God’s Old Testament dwelling place, spans sixteen chapters of the Bible. Yet many of us pass over this extended description without understanding its significance. In this series, we are going to be encouraged to consider this “tent of meeting” (Ex. 27:21). By studying the particulars of this first tabernacle, we will better understand Jesus, the One who dwelt, or “tabernacled,” among us (John 1:14) as well as our lives in Him. Join us for this six-week journey through “The Tabernacle.”

Our job is repentance. God’s job is restoration.

Confronting your sin was never supposed to be easy nor is it supposed to be clean. Repentance is a brutal action against your flesh.

#TheTabernacle
Repentance is a change of heart that leads to a change in behavior.

Confession and Repentance does 5 things in the life of a Christian:
1. It causes us to acknowledge before God that we know and take responsibility for our sin.
2. It proves that we are not trying to hide our sin from God, others, or ourselves.
3. It shows that we are asking for and relying on God’s strength to help us change.
4. It allows us to be continually healed by trying to make things right.
5. It grows us in our relationship with God.

Life-changing repentance begins where blame-shifting ends.” —Timothy Keller

As long as he doesn't convert it into action, it does not matter how much a man thinks about his repentance.” CS Lewis

Repentance:
1. See it; Own it. - “I am wrong.
2. Try to make it right. - “What do need to do to live this out?”
3. Don’t do it again. - “I’m changing my intention and direction.”

Our Altar Prayer: “I choose freedom. I choose victory. I choose boldness. And yes, above all else, I choose You, Jesus.”
