From (Before) the Beginning

From (Before) the Beginning

According to the Apostle Paul (in 2 Timothy 3:14-17), all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable…and points to Jesus Christ! But does that really include the Old Testament? We may be tempted to believe Jesus' story starts in the Gospels, after He was born into this world. But in fact, from the beginning (and even before the beginning), God knew we'd choose sinful separation from Him, and He had a plan to rescue us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. In the weeks leading up to Easter, we'll be exploring just a small handful of the Old Testament passages that clearly foreshadowed and foretold the story of God's rescue plan. By His grace, we'll see in these accounts the wisdom, beauty, creativity, and self-sacrifice of our God, leading us to treasure Him more!

Next Week's Text

Webster defines foreshadowing as "an indication of what is to come." We'll explore divine foreshadowing next week as we watch a father called to sacrifice an only, beloved son. In a climactic moment, God provides a substitute in the son's place. Foreshadowing oozes out of this story and we'll see again that God had one plan all along!
