In this series, we are studying the Old Testament book of Joshua.
· It teaches us how to live once we’ve place our faith in Jesus the Savior.
· It shows, through the examples of others, how to possess what God has promised us.
· It demonstrates the blessings of obedience and the price of stubborn disobedience.
· It illustrates the reality of spiritual warfare and the danger of compromise.
· It challenges us to be decisive, determined, and devoted.

We are now in the second third of the book.
The first 8 chapters dealt with:
-The transitions from Moses to Joshua and from Wanderers to Warriors
-The crossing of the River and the construction of the Reminders
-The defeat of the city of Jericho and the deliverance of Rahab and family
-The lesson of Achan’s sin, the defeat and subsequent victory at Ai.
-The blunder of Israel with the Gibeonites and how God blessed them in spite of this.

The phrase, "moving from HERE to THERE", captures the essence of the book of Joshua.
Many of us are HERE, our current place in life. For most of us, this is where we are comfortable and we've settled or adapted to being HERE".
Here is not necessarily a bad thing, but we should remember that life is not stagnant or static.
Moving from HERE to THERE is to be the norm for anyone who calls themselves a Christian.

Question: are you enthralled with HERE or are you energized by the prospect of THERE?
What would THERE look like for you if THERE is December 31, 2020?
-Where do you want to be spiritually?
-Who do you want to have shared your faith with?
-What impact would you want to have made with your family and friends, your church, and your community?
God has given you this year to move from HERE to THERE, what progress will you make?

In the first 12 chapters, Joshua had obediently followed God's leading in subduing the land that had been promised to the Israelites.
Now Joshua had to move from HERE to THERE and fulfill the second stage of the commission and divide the land so that each tribe could claim their inheritance.
Now Joshua had to move from HERE to THERE and fulfill the second stage of the commission and divide the land so that each tribe could claim their inheritance.
Today we'll look at Joshua chapters 13-21. We see the Israelites receiving an inheritance which is the land of Canaan or the Promised Land.
Leviticus 25:23 [NLT]
Sometimes we forget that God owns everything and we are simple stewards.
Leviticus 25:23 [NLT]

The majority of chapters 13-21 comes across like the reading of a will. It details what portion of each land each of the Jewish tribes was going to receive.
Chapter 13- 2 1/2 tribes decide to settle on the East side of the Jordan
Chapter 14-19- 9 1/2 tribes settle on the West side of the Jordan
Chapter 20-21- the people settling the land had to implement a series of laws by which each person, family, tribe, and clan would need to abide by.

As we read these chapters and review the main aspects to settling the land, we can look in the mirror and assess our own life.
Am I a....
1. Fully engaged BELIEVER.
The 2 1/2 tribes are examples of a borderline believer.
A fully engaged believer is one who understands God's will and is willing to cross over and move from HERE to THERE - prioritizing God's mission for their life.

2. Wholehearted DREAMER.
In Joshua 14:6-15 we see that Caleb was "wholehearted" in that he dreamed of a certain possession of land that he wanted.
We need to dream about what can be, what God can do with us, and what difference we can make in someone's life.
A wholehearted dreamer is someone who has a God-centered purpose for their life and a God-sized goal that transcends our own interests, hobbies, and whims.

3. Faithful AMBASSADOR.
We too are God's ambassadors to the people around us. We are to represent the Lord in the area in which He has placed us and entrusted us (family, community, school, workplace, church, and social groups).
A faithful ambassador doesn't just live life for their own good, but for the ultimate good of others.
