What are some realities in a life that is pursuing perfection?

Matthew 5:48

Self-Oriented Perfectionist: You tend to hold unrealistically high expectations of yourself and you battle with feelings of guilt, often obsessing to the point of inefficiency. You might be prone to procrastinate and you struggle with deep feelings of inadequacy.
Externally Oriented Perfectionist: You believe others expect you to be perfect. So, to cope with the pressure, you often use self-deprecating humor as a defense. You’ll often feel alone or depressed and you feel secretly desperate because you know that no matter how hard you try, you will never be good enough nor live up to your idea of what you believe others expect of you.
Others Oriented Perfectionist: You expect others to live up to your impossible standards. Because you lack empathy, you often tear others down or use abrasive or demeaning humor toward those who don’t meet your standards.

Romans 3:20

The reality is that until you see yourself as a sinner, you won’t see your need for a Savior.

Romans 3:22-24

TELEIOS – (Greek for perfect in Matt. 5:48) ... it’s a word that is commonly translated as “mature” or “fully grown” or “completed.”
Today's Takeaway:
We can choose PEOPLE over perfection.

Luke 10:40-42

Today's Takeaway:
We can choose perfect LOVE over perfect PERFORMANCE.
Our role, our assignment is not to convince people how good we are. Our purpose in life is to convince people how good God is.
PERSONAL PRAYER:
Lord, hear the prayer radiating out of my heart today. Listen to me as I pray from the depths of my soul today. Help me live more for you and less for me. Show me the cravings of my life that are causing me distance between myself and you AND others. More of you God. Less of me. More of you God. Less of me. May it be so. I long for you alone. I need you.
Personal reflection this week ...
> How has perfectionism impacted you personally? How have your expectations of yourself or others influenced relationships?

> This week, take some time to consider your personal expectations and surrender them to God. How can you live by love and grace this week?
