REFLECT: In this passage Jesus is angry, but His anger is righteous as it is directed toward sin. Do I get angry about the same things God would be angry about? Or do I get angry about things that would be trivial to God?

APPLY: Is there something in my life Jesus would not be happy with?

PRAY: Ask that Jesus would help you to be angry with the things He does not like (sin) and to let go of any anger that is directed toward trivial things.

REFLECT: In verse 3, Jesus tells Nicodemus, “unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” What does it mean to be born again? In what ways does my life reflect that I believe in Jesus?

APPLY: What can I do this week to better display my belief in Jesus to those around me?

PRAY: Thank Jesus for giving us the opportunity to be born again. Ask Him to show you where you can better display your belief in Him.

REFLECT: In which ways do I recognize God’s love in my life? In which ways do I recognize God’s love for the world?

APPLY: What could I do today to show God’s love to the people around me?

PRAY: Ask for opportunities to show God’s love to somebody this week. Take time to thank Jesus that we can have a relationship with Him.

CONTEXT: Jesus and John the Baptist are both reaching the same people and that is causing a discussion amongst John’s disciples.

REFLECT: John realizes all the good things he receives are gifts from God. Life can be difficult and pushes us to dwell on the negative. What are some things God has given me that I am thankful for today?

APPLY: How can I show my thankfulness to somebody around me today?

PRAY: Pick 1 or 2 (or more) things you are thankful for and take time thanking Jesus for those things.
