Money Talks - Week 2

Money Talks - Week 2

Are you mastering your money or being mastered by it? Maybe it’s time to flip the script. Instead of striving to have enough money to satisfy a me-first appetite, Jesus encouraged his listeners to have an others-first approach.

Wiregrass Church

Sunday 9:30 AM

Flip the script on your entire financial world.

It's not about how. It's just a matter of deciding that you're going to do it.
Jesus said more about money and possessions than He did about Heaven.
For most people...

There is no money!

...would be worse news than...

There is no heaven!
The Promise
-----------------
Just a little more

and

I'll finally deliver!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I can add meaning to your life,
but I'm not the meaning of life.
Money becomes most meaningful when you begin to view it and you begin to use it as a means to an end that isn't you.
To what ends do you want your life to be your means?
When you begin to answer this question, your money will follow.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Your self-control determines which of us gets control.
That the financial pressure that many of us feel has less to do with how much we make, and more to do with what we did or what we're doing with it.
Us | "If only I had more money!"

Our Money | "If only you had more self-control!"
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm a much better servant than I am a master.

-----------------------------

I'll always go where you send me.
This is where faith and finances intersect.
So I say, walk by the Spirit...

Galatians 5:16 NIV
The fruit of the Spirit ...

is love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control.

_________________________
Galatians 5:22-13 NASB
Nobody wants to be mastered by an appetite.
“No one can serve two masters.

_________________________
Luke16:13 NIV
“No one can serve two masters...

You cannot serve both God and money.”

_________________________
Luke16:13 NIV
Jesus viewed your money and your quest for more as the chief competitor with Him and with His Heavenly Father for your heart and for your devotion.
Do you have money, or does money have you?
-------------------------------------------------
"It doesn't have me because I don't
have enough of it to have me."
-------------------------------------------------
Everyone is at risk of making money
their ultimate pursuit or their ultimate concern,
which makes it their ultimate.
Isn't it amazing how easy it is to take our sins and our failures to God?

Isn't it amazing how easy is to take our sorrows to God?

Isn't it amazing how quickly and how easily you have given your eternity to God?

--------------------------------
Isn't it interesting how hard it is to give your money and your stuff to God?
This isn't about either/or, this is about priorities.
"But seek first...

_________________________
Matthew 6:33 NIV
Seek FIRST: The key to keeping the pursuit of more or infatuation with better out of the driver's seat of your life is to prioritize something else.
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness...

_________________________
Matthew 6:33 NIV
Jesus was righteousness personified.

------------------------------

Jesus, who fearlessly and courageously put other people first.

------------------------------

Jesus, who fearlessly and courageously put YOU first.

hey
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.

_________________________
Matthew 6:33 NIV
Your Heavenly Father has invited you into the "Others-first-Kingdom"
When we put us first, we come in last.
You were created to seek first your Creator.
This is the script that all of us were born into

"Me-First" Living
with some leftover giving
----------------------------------
1. Live
2. Save
3. Give
"Seek-Ye-First" Living
----------------------------------
1. Give
2. Save
3. Live
Telling your money to go is proof your money ain't running the show.
This is a keystone habit.
The litmus test of our devotion to God is our willingness to put Him or others first in the arena of our money and our possessions.
For the next two months
--------------------------------------------
Choose a percentage of your income and I want you to give it away as soon as you get paid.
For the next two months
--------------------------------------------
Pay attention to the internal tension that this creates.
-----------
Listen closely to the conversations you have in your mind.
Discover what is at the center of your resistance and give it anyway.

------------------------------------

You might discover this is not about money, this is about something else.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I'm a better servant than master.
Until Jesus is first in your finances, Jesus isn't first.
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
