Do you ever have trouble making a choice?

For some important choices...
If you choose not to choose, you’re choosing by not choosing.
In other words: Not choosing is choosing.

Choose...

We have a choice to make and not choosing isn't an option.

Bottom Line: If you choose not to choose, you’re choosing by not choosing.
i.e. Not choosing is choosing.

This day...

We have to choose this day and every day. It is a daily choice.

Will serve...

We don't want to serve anyone, but that isn't an option. We are either slaves to sin or slaves to obeying God.

As for me...

We get to make our own choice. Joshua could have been asking them all to make a corporate choice, but he made his choice independently, so it seems likely that each of them could, as well.

And my household...

We have influence over our household as long as they live in our house.

We will serve the Lord...

Not just believe in the Lord but serve the Lord.
Satan isn't rattled by your artwork with this verse on it.
He is rattled when you actually choose to live it every day.

The people of Israel did well for a while, but they eventually stopped making the daily choice to serve the Lord which led to disobedience.

Did they choose disobedience? Not initially. They simply stopped choosing.

Not choosing is choosing.

We can relate with the Israelites.
We can’t go a day, often an hour, and sometimes a few minutes before we drift away from our choice to serve the Lord.

Thankfully, we choose to serve for a completely different reason than the people of Joshua’s time.

They chose to serve the Lord, because it was the only way to be made right with Him. They had to follow the Law.

Now that Jesus has fulfilled the Law and died for our sins, we serve the Lord out of love and gratitude and trust that his ways are just plain better than our ways.

But making any choice in today’s culture is hard.
We live in a very non-committal society.
But not choosing is choosing!

Here are a few verses that remind us of some choices we need to make...

Are we doing what it takes to make a daily and even moment by moment choice to glorify God?
Are we going to live intentionally?

Not choosing is choosing!
