The Crisis of CHARACTER
The Interventionists CURE
SO WHAT?!
To shift CULTURE toward resilient integrity means:
#1. Your leadership is always by EXAMPLE
#1. Your leadership is always by EXAMPLE
#2. You deepen your REVERENCE for God
But I did not do so because of the fear of God.
But I did not do so because of the fear of God.
#3. You focus your ENERGIES toward mission
#4. You develop your love for PEOPLE
#5. You delay personal GRATIFICATION
Lord, how do I become an unstoppable servant?
#3. Resilient Integrity
Prayer Requests:
Pray that people would participate in the 21 days of prayer/fasting.
Group Discussion:
Read: Nehemiah 5
Nehemiah’s principles of resilient integrity:
The crisis of character in vs. 1-5 what does the people complaining reflect? Is their complaining justified? Have you ever been in a situation where you’re working diligently and others are not working hard? How demotivating is that?
The interventionist cure in vs. 6-13 is Nehemiah instructing the leaders to refund all the interest they’ve charged the people. Have you ever gotten an unexpected refund from work, the IRS, or an inheritance? How did you use that? Ever buy something on Black Friday at a hugely discounted price? Anyone ever given you an expensive gift you didn’t expect?
To shift culture toward resilient integrity means leadership is always by example. What do you think of the statement, “Do as I say not as I do.” Do you know someone in management or leadership that sets a good example? What are the most important components of a good example: Actions? Attitudes? Patience? Coaching? Stated goals? Resources?
To shift culture toward resilient integrity deepen your reverence for God. When you run into frustrations are you really good at immediately going to God for insight and encouragement or do you run to others to commiserate? How is God’s Word a source of encouragement to you? Do you have favorite scriptures that you meditate on for perspective?
To shift culture toward resilient integrity focus your energies toward mission. Do you feel like you’re on the same page with others at work? Does everyone know the mission of the organization?
To shift culture toward resilient integrity develop your love for people. Is it extremely difficult or incredibly easy for you to deal with people? Are you task or people oriented? What’s the up and down side of either?
To shift culture toward resilient integrity delay personal gratification. How good are you at getting out of debt, paying off bills early, getting work done ahead of schedule, saving for a rainy day?
Family time: Read Nehemiah 5:19 and talk to your kids about what they want God to remember that they do well.
