"Expanding Your Capacity to Love"
Jesus draws us into the story of God's love. It is not a love in theory, but a love in practice. It is risky, messy and costly. But, mostly it is life-giving, to both the one who receives and the one who gives.

Group Life Questions

Our Vision: Encouraging, Equipping and Empowering a Community of Christ-followers who are Inviting People into a Relationship with Jesus.

When did someone surprise you with encouragement, assistance or support in some way you really appreciated? What happened?

Read Luke 10.25-37

1. What is the discussion between Jesus and the religious lawyer? What is the issue? What words tell you something of what is going on here? (Verses 25-29)

2. Jesus tells a story, commonly in Bible times called a parable, a story with a primary point. (Verses 30-35)
Who are the characters in the story? How does each character contribute to the story?
Who are you in the story OR who have you been in the story?

3. Jesus answers the lawyer's question with a story and a question of his own. (Verse 36) How does Jesus relate the story to the discussion the lawyer is having with Jesus? How does Jesus change the question?

4. What do you find compelling, convicting, life-changing in the verses 27-28? The Passion Translation: " 'You must love the Lord God with all your heart, all your passion, all your energy, and your every thought. And you must love your neighbor as well as you love yourself.’ ” Jesus said, “That is correct. Now go and do exactly that and you will live.”

5. What is left hanging in Jesus' discussion with the lawyer at the end of the conversation? What is left hanging if Jesus were speaking to you? How are you going to write the rest of the story?
