• When used of God, it is usually in plural form.
• It is translated Lord in the OT.
• In formal settings/prayers, Jews substitute Adonai for YHWH.
• It is akin to the NT word Lord ("kurios" in Greek).
• Jesus Christ is called Lord (kurios) often in the NT.
