1. How has divorce impacted you or your family? What would you say
to anyone considering marriage based on your experience?

2. Review God’s Purposes for marriage and read verses:
Companionship - Gen 2:18, Procreation - Gen. 1:28, Pleasure – 1 Cor.
7:5, Picture – Eph. 5:23

3. Discuss the characteristics of Marriage:
What makes it a divine union? What is the significance of the physical
union? Why is there so much emphasis on the permanence of the
union? Should we care if it is a heterosexual? Is it hateful to say that
marriage is between a man and a woman? What authority to we have
to make such a statement?

4. Read Deuteronomy 24:1-4 – Did Moses command people to divorce?

5. Matt. 5:32 and 1 Cor. 7:15, give 2 Biblical possibilities for divorce. Are
these commands or do they give permission?

6. When the disciples heard the seriousness of marriage according to
Jesus, they said in Matt. "If the relationship of the man with his wife is
like this, it is better not to marry". What would you say to the person
who feels this way?

7. Marriage is a lifetime commitment that can be broken only by death,
adultery or abandonment. Does this “require” divorce? (Is it mandatory
or are there other options?)

8. Why is chastity in dating a biblical mandate? What if you have already
been married, is it still valid?

9. Is divorce the unpardonable sin? How do we deal lovingly with those
who are divorced and still uphold the Biblical ideal for marriage?
