Welcome to our 4-week series as we look into four fears that are common for our youth. May God strengthen us to be “UnShakable” when it comes to our fears of Violence, Offending, Rejection, and Failure.

I believe we can trust Jesus with our present because we know we can trust Jesus with our future.
The Hebrew word for violence is the word hamas, and it carries more than just an idea of violent action.
This term connotes rebellion against God that results in bloodshed and disorder and a general undoing of God’s intentions for creation.
So violence is an act that isn’t just a sin against another human, but a sin against God because it "undoes" God’s intention for creation.

As people of new creation, as citizens of heaven, we’re called to live in light of that future reality today. Our lives should be the epicenter of God’s restoration, and our words and actions should point to the reality that God is building.
We trust Jesus in the face of violence.

I forgive you. You took something very precious away from me. I will never get to talk to her ever again. I will never be able to hold her again, but I forgive you, and have mercy on your soul. … You hurt me. You hurt a lot of people. If God forgives you, I forgive you.
