THE COMEBACK // PART 3
WHEN DREAMS ARE DASHED
// KEY SCRIPTURE
• Genesis 37:1-9, 18-28
• Genesis 50:15-21
// THE MAIN IDEA
Whether we can see it or not, the same God who has called us to our dreams will steward them until they come to the conclusion God has designed. Heaven still has a plan for us.
// OUTLINE
• All of us at times are confronted with challenges that leave us asking, God, what is happening to me? Where are you in the midst of this crisis?
• Regardless of what we are facing today, we have the hope that our God is working in our lives. The same God who calls us to a dream is faithful to bring that dream to fruition.
• The story of Joseph in the Bible is an excellent example of how God works behind the scenes to bring the dreams He has given us to reality.
• Even when Joseph went to be a servant in Potiphar's house, the Bible tells us the Lord was with him. God never abandons Joseph, even when it seems the dream has dissolved completely.
• We can have the confidence that even when the circumstances don't add up––when we, perhaps like Joseph, can't see God's involvement in our lives––the Lord is still always with us.
• In one move, God brought Joseph from the prison to the palace. God used him to interpret a nation-shaping dream for all of Egypt and the region.
• When the time is right, God can likewise take us from wherever we are to exactly where He wants us to be.
• Joseph was given the opportunity to seek revenge against his brothers, but through his experiences he was able to see the long arc of the hand of God.
• Our opportunity is to lean into God right now, remain faithful, and believe all over again that in spite of what we see in the present, our God isn't finished with us yet.
