IS THERE NOT A CAUSE?
1 SAMUEL 17: 21-29 NKJV
21 For Israel and the Philistines had drawn up in battle array, army against army. 22 And David left his supplies in the hand of the supply keeper, ran to the army, and came and greeted his brothers. 23 Then as he talked with them, there was the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, coming up from the armies of the Philistines; and he spoke according to the same words. So David heard them.24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid. 25 So the men of Israel said, “Have you seen this man who has come up? Surely he has come up to defy Israel; and it shall be that the man who kills him the king will enrich with great riches, will give him his daughter, and give his father’s house exemption from taxes in Israel.”26 Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”27 And the people answered him in this manner, saying, “So shall it be done for the man who kills him.”28 Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.” 29 And David said, “What have I done now? What was the cause for David?
God’s people were living in fear and contrary to God’s promise to His people.
Exodus 23:22 NIV
If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.
Psalm 91:5-7 NIV
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
Because David clearly understood the Cause, He was motivated to action.
I believe we are living in a day where most do not clearly understand the cause of Christ.
Because of this many get side tracked with other causes that seem good but don’t come from the root and foundation of the teachings of Christ.
The church in the book of Acts was greatly persecuted for preaching this truth:
Acts 4:12 NIV12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:18-20 NLT
18 So they called the apostles back in and commanded them never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John replied, “Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him? 20 We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.”
THE CAUSE OF SALVATION THROUGH CHRIST ALONE MOTIVATED THE DISCIPLES IN THE BOOK OF ACTS.
THE CAUSE OF CHRIST IS TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS! TEACHING THEM HIS WAYS & HIS TRUTH
LUKE 19:9-10 NLT
9 Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Mancame to seek and save those who are lost.”
THIS IS THE DIVINE MISSION GIVEN TO ABRAHAM AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE TO KNOW THE TRUE GOD & TO MAKE HIM KNOWN TO THE WORLD!
MAKE HIM KNOWN TO EVERY FAMILY, CITY & NATION!
THIS MUST BE THE FIRST CAUSE TO THE DISCIPLE OF CHRIST!
WE CAN’T HAVE A DIFFERENT CAUSE FROM OUR MASTER!

The foundations of law and order have collapsed. What can the righteous do?"

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Mark 16:15-20 NLT
15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. 17 These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages.18 They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”
19 When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 20 And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.
· This is our Cause and it is the most worthy of causes!
· This Cause has to do with eternity and not just the temporary.
· The Cause of Christ is His heart for all people!
· Messiah’s heart to see them have salvation!
