BAPTISM AND COMMUNION
COMMUNION
BAPTISM
“Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread (COMMUNION) and to prayer.” Acts 2:41,42
COMMUNION
SO WHY SHOULD WE PRACTICE COMMUNION?
“…and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 1Corinthians 11:24
HIS BODY WAS OFFERED AS A SACRIFICE FOR OUR SIN
HIS BLOOD WAS SHED SO OUR SINS COULD BE FORGIVEN.
THE 4 LOOKS OF COMMUNION:
A BACKWARD LOOK
AN UPWARD LOOK
A FORWARD LOOK
AN INWARD LOOK
BAPTISM
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19
Baptizo – wash, plunge, immerse, dip
3 BIG THINGS ABOUT BAPTISM:
Baptism is a public symbol of your decision to follow Christ
Baptism is a Personal Decision
Baptism is not required to go to heaven
“But Paul shouted to him, ‘STOP’! Don’t kill yourself. We are all here! The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and asked, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’” Acts 16: 28-30
“They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.’ And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household.” Acts 16:31-32
“Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized.” Acts 16:33
Why Not Now?
Reasons:
I need to pray about it.
I need to fix some things in my life first.
Some of my family can’t make it.
I hate water.
I can’t swim. I’ll drown.
I didn’t bring a change of clothes.
