Introduction to Series: Around Every Corner
Expand
Ministry just around the corner can be as effective as ministry around the world. This sermon series explores how our most effective ministry may be right in our own backyard. We know this because we see it all the time in our own people. People from StoneBridge volunteer at places like the Samaritan Center, Sarah's House, and even the Annual Charity Car Show.

We can make a difference within blocks of our homes and offices. We can have a longer, more personal impact where we live.

The first worshipping community followed the command to: Love and Go.
Personal Reflection/Small Group Discussion Questions:
1. How does the summary of what the church is, Love and Go, relate to living out life in our communities?
2. List out the characteristics of the community that is described in Acts 2:42-47.
3. What lifestyle can we adopt into our own rhythms of living that we see exemplified in the description of the community from Acts 2:42?
4. How comfortable are you with the idea that God sends each one of us out to be missionaries? Why?
Key component of missional communities: Following Jesus in an inclusive way where the love of Jesus lives within our hearts and is reflected in our actions.
Key component of missional communities: Being faithful to Jesus.
Personal Reflection/Small Group Discussion Questions:
1. Acts chapter 1 describes a community that was radically changed because they experienced God's grace in their lives. Have you experienced God's grace? Has God's love transformed your life? In what ways have you seen your life change?
2. Can others tell that your life has been changed? In what ways?
Acts of the Apostles 1:1-26 NLT

Key component of missional communities: Sharing how you have been transformed by God's love.
All people matter to God... do they matter to us?
Personal Reflection/Small Group Discussion Questions:
1. The Great Commission from Matthew 28:19-20 is a call for all of us to share our story of personal transformation with others. Who do you have a heart for that needs to hear this story?
2. Have you ever wondered why God has called you to share your faith?
3. Why does God ask us to step out of our comfort zones in order to share our faith?
4. The people who listened to Peter's sermon and who experienced the Holy Spirit valued community. What's more they valued drawing people into that community. How have you drawn others into the community of faith? How might you have turned people away from the community of faith?
5. How might we have twisted the idea of church away from a community that shares faith, to a place where we desire to have our needs met?
Key component of missional communities: You know the community is not just for your benefit, but for the sake of the people outside of it.
Personal Reflection/Small Group Discussion Questions:
1. How were you first introduced to this family of faith? How might God have been working through you since then to share that story with others?
2. How can seeing the community as something that exists for the sake of the people outside of it, change our interactions with newcomers and visitors? How can this mindset shift our thinking when we interact with those around us?
3. Agree or disagree: The church will die if we don't share our stories. Why or why not?
4. You are the tangible evidence of the resurrection. How do you feel about that? Does that encourage you to share your story?
Our mission is people, not projects.
Personal Reflection/Small Group Discussion Questions:
1. God will be seen in the way we love others. How good of a job do you think we are doing at loving others?
2. When do you find it hard to love others? When is it easy to love others?
3. What gets in the way of you adopting a servant's heart for others?
4. Think of someone you want to share your story with. Pray for an opportunity to naturally share your story with that person.
