<b>HeroMakers Moved to July 27th</b><br>Men, HeroMaker's is getting together for some man time! Join us, Saturday, July 27th from 5-8 PM at Jason Stokke's house for yard games, pulled pork sandwiches, and drinks. Bring a beverage and a lawn chair. For more details, go the events page on our website. https://zionclearlake.churchcenter.com/groups/upcoming-events/hero-makers-men-s-ministry<br><br><b>Zion Drama Ministry and PHT Partnership</b><br>Over the past few years, Zion has been looking to spread out to the community in an effort to reach those who don’t know the good news of Jesus Christ. One of the ways Zion is reaching out into the community is through partnering with Powerhouse Theatre (PHT) and their mission to build up proficient actors, singers, and dancers not just on the stage but also through growing in their own personal character. We want to continue to build upon what has been started, not only to reach more members of the community but also to give those who have creative talents a place to showcase their talents in worship and service. <br><br>Some of the groundwork has already been laid, through PHT, but also through the Worship and Creative Arts services that have taken place throughout the past year. We want to increase these types of services, as well as continue to add to the variety of worship and creative arts elements that are present. Zion has also begun showcasing local acting talent through summer dramas, which are a regular part of the ZATP (Zion at the Park) service. Not only is this a great medium through which to re-examine God’s Word and His calling for our lives, it serves as a great relational outreach to the creative artists in the area who would not otherwise come to experience God through a Zion service. <br><br>To support Powerhouse Theatre, you can visit their website https://www.phtheatre.com/newsies-tickets to purchase tickets to their summer production "Newsies" July 18th-28th!<br><br><b>ZYouth Risefest</b><br>One of ZYouth’s annual summer traditions is to take a group of high school students and leaders to Sheldon, IA for the outdoor, Christian music festival – which features many of the top Christian artists on the radio! This year’s Rise Fest had big artists like Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Newsboys, We Are Messengers, and I Am They. Our group was double the amount of any other year we’ve done so far, with 32 (6 leaders) people piling into 5 vehicles! We drove down Friday night and were rained on hard, but we still worshipped on! A big shout out and thanks goes to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Sheldon, IA for hosting us!! That night, we prayed for the weather on Saturday since the forecast said it was going to be terrible. Pastor Derek told all of the kids in the morning to dress as though it was 100% chance they would get wet, but God came through and there was no rain the entire day! There was a lot of relationship building among the group, tons of food was devoured, and there was even a giant game of life size foosball. Everybody loved the Newsboys performance, the kids loved Skillet, and the trip overall was another great opportunity to worship Jesus.<br><br><b>ZYouth June Recap</b><br>June kicked off a busy time for ZYouth and its leadership team! Just when you thought we were done, nope! We’re back! So far this summer we’ve taken kids disc golfing, with some professionals instructing proper throwing techniques. These pros brought in three discs to give away to the kids that demonstrated the best attitudes and sportsmanship in the nine-hole round of disc golf and the long drive throwing competition! Following that, we invited a professional fisherman who shared his story and taught the kids how to use some fishing gear. As a side note, this is the second year running where Pastor Derek has caught ZERO fish. Amazingly, though, one student with a Disney’s Frozen themed children’s fishing pole caught six fish!<br>After that, we had our fourth annual ‘Merica Day. Unfortunately, we were rained in at the last minute and hosted the event in the HUB rather than the church parking lot and south lawn. The kids had an awesome time, with plenty of desserts, plenty of games, and plenty of fun! The night’s events consisted of capture the flag (NERF battle edition) and a pie eating contest! There was face-painting, America themed hair styling/coloring, and a photo booth to let the silly out.<br>Our final local ZYouth event in June was a new one we tried this year: Camp Night! It turned out to be a blast! We made a home base at the yurts in McIntosh Woods and brought the kids out to make homemade ice cream in a Ziploc bag, play yard games, to hike (and pick up sticks), and partake in a ZYouth Alumni led worship session with Dylon Schuchard around the campfire (hense the sticks!). Pastor Derek gave a brief message before we broke out the sparklers and ended the night with fellowship and a prayer. This summer has been awesome to see all of the kids and leaders come and make fellowship happen even during our “break”.
