What would Jesus do?
What would Jesus do?
#1. He would honestly CARE
About PEOPLE
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matt. 9:36

About CHURCH
…Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Eph. 5:25b

#2. He would be APATHETIC
About POWER
Jesus knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself. Jn. 6:15

About FAME
Scribes and Pharisees…do all their deeds to be noticed by men. Matt. 23:5

For the COMMUNITY
If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will find true life. Mk. 8:35

Prayer Requests:
Group Discussion: What would Jesus say to…Lady Gaga or Madonna, the mayor of Las Vegas, the Pope and Chip and Joanne Gaines?
If Jesus would honestly care about people; “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Mt. 9:36 Then, how do I concern myself with all the people of Visalia? A. Show care by doing B. Too busy to care C. Care in a cautious way! Explain.
If Jesus honestly cares about the church, “…Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” Eph. 5:25b Do you feel like you sacrifice for His Church? If you could have any gift or talent in the world and have all the resources of the world, what would you do for His Church?
Jesus was apathetic about power, “Jesus knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.’ Jn. 6:15 What’s the first thing you’d do if you were King? Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be great, let him be the servant of all.” How is a servant greater than a King???
Jesus avoided fame early in his life but wanted His fame to be world-wide today. Scribes and Pharisees…do all their deeds to be noticed by men. Matt. 23:5 What’s the difference between the Pharisee’s fame and Jesus fame?
If my ego is under control my life won’t be measured by how much I own. Lk. 12:15 Why?
Jesus would get emotionally angry at selfish religious leaders, “…you weigh men down with burdens hard to bear.” Lk. 11:46 How should religious leaders use their influence? How do you feel about people who mistreat children? How would you feel about a judge who decides cases based on bribery instead of facts?
Why did Jesus set up a kingdom that demands some form of sacrifice? How does being sacrificial help us as human beings?
Family Time: Talk to your kids about justice and grace. Justice is giving you what you deserve or have earned. Grace is about giving you what you don’t deserve. Author Lee Strobel tells the story of a little girl that shoplifted in the church bookstore when he was a Pastor at the church. He had the parents and the girl come in to see him. Ask your kids what they thought Lee said to them. Then explain what Lee said, “I’m giving you the item that you stole, and I’m going to pay for it for you! Somebody has to pay. Grace is giving you what someone else paid for.”
