For Further Thought and Discussion

Getting Started
1.What was helpful to you in this week’s sermon? What didn’t you understand?
2.How has your faith in God matured over the past year?

Going Deeper
3.Exodus 5:22-7:7 record another conversation between Moses and God. Please read Exodus 5:22-6:1. Why is Moses struggling with his faith? How does God answer his complaint? Can you remember a time you struggled with your faith because God’s plan differed from your plan? What lessons did you learn from this experience?
4.Please read Exodus 6:2-9. God’s plan usually differs from our plan because God’s purpose is always larger than our purpose. In what ways is God’s purpose larger than Moses’ purpose in these verses? What do you learn about people from vs. 9? Can you remember an experience where God has a larger purpose for something that happened to you which you only realized later?
5.Please read Exodus 6:10-7:7. Why is Moses’ struggling with his faith in this instance? How has your faith in what God can do been impacted your own limitations? Why does Moses include his genealogy here? How does God answer Moses’ concern about his limitations? How have you seen God use your limitation and weaknesses to accomplish great things?
6.What similarities do you see between this passage and the story of the Chinese farmer and his neighbors? How does your own faith need to mature?

Application
7.What is one thing you will do this week to apply this passage?
