If spiritual vitality reconnects us to God, then emotional vitality reconnects us to the person he made us to be. Emotional vitality deals with the health of our psyche, our ability to connect and relate to the people around us in positive ways. Our emotional well-being will also determine our outlook on life as well as our level of confidence, vigor, and tenacity. Those who are emotionally refreshed are not teetering on the edge of burnout, nor are they so obsessed with the drive to be better and do more for the wrong reasons. God never intended people to become overwhelmed and consumed by one area of life, yet some of us struggle with one-track mind and tend to lose our ability to live emotionally healthy lives. -Shawn Lovejoy
“As emotionally mature Christian adults, we recognize that loving well is the essence of true spirituality. This requires that we experience connection with God, with ourselves and with other people. God invites us to practice his presence in our daily lives. At the same time, he invites us “to practice the presence of people,” within an awareness of his presence, in our daily relationships. The two are rarely brought together. Jesus’ profound, contemplative prayer life with his Father resulted in a contemplative presence with people. Love is “to reveal the beauty of another person to themselves.” Jesus did that with every person he met. This ability to really listen and pay attention to people was at the very heart of his mission. It could not help but move him to compassion. In the same way, out of our contemplative time with God, we, too, are invited to be prayerfully present to people, revealing their beauty to themselves.” -- Peter Scazzero
If I were to rate my emotional well being where on a scale of 1 to 10 would I be?Why is that? Which area is weak?
Am I emotionally available for my family?
Am I emotionally available for my friends?
Am I emotionally available for my community?
Am I taking time to process and listen to the Lord’s Leading?
