This will be an introductory training session. Details about the discipleship training center will appear in the June newsletter along with emails and information in your church mailbox. Please pray about it, and if nothing else, pray for those who will be trained. Sign up today on the bulletin board or send him an email if you would like to participate in this training event.

Acts of the Apostles 1:1-11 NLT

SERMON: "My Witnesses" - Acts 1

Acts 1:8 (NLT)... But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Other scripture references... John 14:12-14, Galatians 5:22, 23

5 phases of a witness...

1. the person who is a witness? Someone who claims to follow Jesus, love Jesus; acknowledges the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

2. the pathway of a witness? A life of service; usually it is a way of suffering and sacrifice!

3. the power of a witness? The Holy Spirit / breath of God; a divine inherent power in those who claim Jesus as Savior and Lord! We don't have the power if Jesus does not rule every area of our lives!

"The ordinary people of God, equipped with the Word of God, empowered by the Spirit of God, dedicated to the Son of God, can accomplish the mission of God." Tony Merida

4. the people in need of a witness? The nations, to the ends of the earth, or at least to Salunga, which ever comes first!

5. the passion of a witness? Jesus!

"A zeal for the kingdom comes only when we have a passion for the King!" Tony Merida

Sticky Statement
A witness for Jesus tells the story of change and transformation; the difference Jesus has made in their life! A witness for Jesus travels far and wide, sharing with anyone who will listen, the good news of forgiving, unconditional love!

Questions for reflection...
1. What can you learn about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit in these verses?
2. What do you learn about yourself or others in these verses?
3. How will you apply what you’ve learned today? Be specific.
