As a believer, other people’s pain necessitates your participation (4:14-15).
As a ministry, accountability should accompany our stewardship (4:15-18).
Accountability means:
•We are able to give an account of what was given to us (4:15).
•We are able to give an account of what was given to us (4:15).
Paul’s ministry simply provided an occasion for sharing in the gospel. He knew that he handled sacred resources when they came from the people of God. Their gift was good because it demonstrated that they understood God’s working in the world and that they willingly supported it through God’s servants.

Accountability means:
•We grow in a sense of gratitude not presumption (4:14, 16, 18).
•We grow in a sense of gratitude not presumption (4:14, 16, 18).
14 Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble…
16 Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again.
18 I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, … a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.
16 Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again.
18 I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, … a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.
Accountability means:
•We are more concerned about the giver than the gift (4:17).
•We are more concerned about the giver than the gift (4:17).
17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. 18 I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.
Accountability means:
•We are the instrument, not the source, in both giving and receiving (4:19).
•We are the instrument, not the source, in both giving and receiving (4:19).
19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
As a child of God, your confidence is in your Father’s commitment to provide exactly what we need (4:19).
"All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household."
The truly contented can endure both difficulty and prosperity (4:12).
12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
