For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. (Romans 15:4)

These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age. (1 Cor 10:11)

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light…(Gen 1:1-3)

Spirit of God – Ruach = Breath = Life

Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. (Gen 2:7)

The Eternal Mission Statement: We exist to have Love-Soaked Relationship with God and each other (Vertical and Horizontal)

The Indwelling

But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. (John 16:7)

He lives with you and will be in you (John 14:17)

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have from God (1 Cor 6:19)

But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.(Romans 8:9)

POWER/Peace
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Gal 5:22)

The biggest problem is not the Devil, it’s not the World…it’s Us

Flesh vs. the Spirit

For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. (Galatians 5:17)

We don’t need more of God, He needs more of us

Be Filled

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. (Eph 5:17,18) (Eph 5:17,18)

Be Filled = Be, Being Filled

The Indwelling is a Present, Being Filled is a Process.

We do not Earn we Engage

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things (Col 3:1,2)

1) Total Surrender

This Earth is not our Home

Walking Dead
When you were dead in your sins…God made you alive with Christ. (Colossians 2:13)

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins (Ephesians 2:1)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come(2 Cor 5:17)

2) God’s Word and Prayer

God’s Word
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword,it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Heb 4:12)

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Eph 6:17)


Prayer
Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. (Mt 26:41)

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. (Psalm 145:18)

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. (1 John 5:14,15)

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Col 3:12)

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. (Col 3:16)
