Discouragement is defined as a feeling --a feeling of losing hope, losing confidence & a feeling of losing courage.
In a matter of hours, Joseph went from being the pampered son of a wealthy farmer to a lowly slave of a henchman in Egypt.
For 20 years Joseph is seemingly forgotten, sold into slavery, ends up in a nasty Egyptian prison -- terrible run of bad stuff!
Life Lesson #1:

In Genesis 39 & 40, we read the same phrase four times:
“The Lord was with Joseph. The Lord was with Joseph. The Lord was with Joseph. The Lord was with Joseph.”
“The Lord was with Joseph. The Lord was with Joseph. The Lord was with Joseph. The Lord was with Joseph.”
God is with us, but He is more concerned with what’s happening in us than what’s happening to us. He’s more concerned that what happens to us accomplishes something in us.
