The Point

The resurrection of Jesus makes our own resurrection possible.
The Bible Meets Life

Everybody wants to live longer, and many scientists are convinced that science holds secrets we can unlock that will move our lifespan well beyond 120 years. That would be impressive, but even with our best efforts, we’ll still die. Jesus said something that is difficult for those driven solely by the natural world to accept: we can live forever. That possibility has nothing to do with science or healthy living. Eternal life is possible because Jesus died and rose again.
The Setting

Two conversations provide priceless insight into the significance of Jesus’ resurrection and its relationship to the resurrection of His followers. After the death of Lazarus, his sister, Martha, rebuked Jesus for not being present to save her brother. Jesus revealed to her that He is the source of eternal life. A week after His resurrection, Jesus appeared to the disciples. In His conversation with Thomas, Jesus blessed those who put their faith in Him.

Live It Out

Believe. Jesus invites you to follow Him. If you have never trusted in Christ, place your full faith in Him. Talk to someone in your group about your desire to believe and trust in Christ.

Investigate. If you still wonder if the resurrection of Jesus is something we can count on, look into it for yourself. Many books address the reality of the resurrection, such as Buried Hope or Risen Savior by Charles Quarles or The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel.

Share. Let God use you in the life of another person. Ask God to put someone on your heart who needs to hear about His resurrection and promise of eternal life.
Wrap It Up

Except for the resurrection, we would all be lost for an eternity. But we can rest assured that the resurrection of Christ is a fact of human history. Let us honor Christ’s resurrection not only on Easter Sunday, but every day of our lives.
