Completion of the Tabernacle Where God Dwells with the People
Thirteen of the first 90 chapters of the Bible are about the tabernacle. They detail specifications for the construction of the tabernacle.
Key Verse(Ex 39:42-43) – So the sons of Israel did all the work … just as the Lord had commanded, this they had done.
Faith is Credited as Righteousness
The people rejected God and worshipped the golden calf. But then they experienced God’s mercy and believed in a merciful God. This time, they hear Him, and from the heart and do just as the Lord commanded.
Key Verse(Ex 40:34) – Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
Others(Rom 4:5) (John 14:17)
Saved for a Destination
The people were freed by God, who then went with them to their Promised Land home. The tabernacle is a picture of our true home.
Key Verse(Ex 33:14) – My presence shall go with you. I will give you rest
Key Verse(Ex 40:38) – For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.

Questions for Further Thought

Q1 – What was helpful to you in this week’s sermon? What didn’t you understand?

Q2 – Think of a time when you wondered whether God was with you? What did you do? What did you pray? What happened?

Q3 – If it is true that God has always wanted to be with people, including us today, and has done what it takes to be with us, then how does that affect our lives? What needs are met? How should we live? What should we do more? What should we do less?

Q4 – If it is true that God will credit faith as His righteousness, then how does that affect our lives? What needs are met? How should we therefore live? What should we do more? What should we do less?

Q5 – What is faith? What do you think of this statement: “Believe in God and He will be God to you?” Do actions come from beliefs or do beliefs come from actions. How are actions and beliefs intertwined?

Q6 – If it is true that God saves us for a destination, then what is that destination? How do we live our lives with that fact in mind? What should we do more in light of where we are headed? What should we do less? What one thing would you tell someone who is asking you where you are going in life?
