In this series we’re looking in the book of Acts and studying the movement of following Jesus that began 2000 years ago and has spread all around the world. As we do, we’re learning what this movement means for us, for our church and what our part in all of this is. It’s a movement that is bigger than all of us, and yet, you and I are invited to be part of it. And God’s movement builds momentum when we play our part in looking beyond ourselves. God can use anybody. God can use you. It’s just a matter if we will be willing to jump in to play our part.

1.What’s one time in your life or one experience when you felt extraordinary? On the flipside, what’s an experience in your life when you felt really common, unspectacular or ordinary?

2.Why do people sometimes believe that can’t (or won’t) play a part in God’s Movement?

3.READ Acts 4:13.What made these common people extraordinary? What do you think it would look like for people to look at us and say something similar…that we have been following Jesus?

4.READ Acts 9:1-18 What are some things that stand out to you about the people in this story? Do they seem extraordinary, perfect, holy, or the kind of people that God should use? Why do you think God would choose to use them anyway?

5.This whole story is based not on extraordinary people, but on an extraordinary God. What are some ways this story helps you see God as extraordinary?

6.God can use common people in extraordinary ways when we are willing to listen and respond in obedience. Are there ways that you feel like God might be asking you to play your part in this movement, either at work, school, or in our community?

7.Movement happens when together we all play our parts. What are some ways you can think or dream about our community changing as we each play our parts?

PRAYER: You, a common, ordinary person get the opportunity today to talk to an extraordinary and awesome God. Take some time to thank God for loving you, an ordinary person, and continuing to work through ordinary people throughout history. Ask God to work in your own life in extraordinary ways.
