Covetousness is to want something because you believe that thing will make you happy. The Hebrew (hamad) is literally “to desire intensely” in a way that becomes a substitute for the devotion and love due to God. It may or may not lead to an act, but it is a sin because it’s still a wrong desire. Positively, the command teaches us about God’s faithfulness, goodness, and provision. We don’t need to worry about our needs being met because our Father knows everything about us (Matthew 6:25-24) and satisfies our deepest longings.
This final commandment is the key to understanding _______________.
The tenth commandment has to do with what’s _______________
The tenth commandment shows us how we should understand the _________________.
