Our Purpose
Generations Church understands the Biblical purpose for its existence. We strive in every way to follow the commands of Scripture in the following areas:
1) A CHRIST-CENTERED CHURCH:
We are a church that is based on the life and teachings of Jesus. He is central to our individual lives and to the life and ministry of our Church. 1 Peter 2:5-7
2) A CHURCH WITH A HEART FOR EVANGELISM AND MISSIONS:
We are a church that believes in the Great Commission. From our local community to the most remote part of the world, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. Mark 16:15
3) A PRAYER-FOCUSED CHURCH:
We are a church that believes in the power of prayer. Prayer draws us close to God and impacts our lives and world. Luke 11:1
4) A SPIRIT-EMPOWERED CHURCH:
We are a church that is dependent on the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish the instructions of our Lord and to live a life that is pleasing to God. Acts 1:8
Learning God-seasons and perceiving God-seasons can help us determine Gods plan and his timing for our life.
Previous Weeks:
• 4 Seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter and how that can apply to our life.
• Season of Preparation, Season of Promotion, Season of Affliction.
• We started a study through Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
• This is a season of action for the purpose of reconciliation or separation.
Confrontation:
• Confrontation is not just another argument, but it can begin a start towards healing and reconciliation.
• I will be honest with you, and you can be honest with me.
• We may not always resolve everything, but we can begin making improvements and forgetting the past.
"a time to scatter"
• This is a season where the situation is either resolved or you have decided to move on.
A person’s wisdom yields patience, it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11
• This is a season of extra outward verbal and physical expression.
"a time to refrain from embracing"
• This is a season of firm words or actions, drawing clear boundaries and tough love.
Speaking the truth in love. Ephesians 4:15
• This is a season to save, store, accumulate, and think long term about your future.
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. Proverbs 6:6-8
"a time to throw away"
• This is a God season, purge, declutter, and streamline; to achieve simplicity and for God’s will and purpose to emerge or reemerge.
Lay down those things that are dragging you down. Hebrews 12:1
We need the season to "throw away"
• To guard against danger of "possessions"
Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions."
Luke 12:15
• To remove unhealthy relationships
• To focus on God’s will and purpose for our life
Strip away all excess baggage and nonessential trappings until you have come into the stark reality of the Kingdom of God. Let go of all distractions until you are driven into the Core. Allow God to reshuffle your priorities and eliminate the unnecessary. Robert Foster, Celebration of Disciplines
• This is a season to listen, observe, and learn.
Let the wise listen and add to their learning. Proverbs 1:5
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Psalms 37:7
He says, "Be still, and know that I am God" Psalms 46:10
"a time to speak"
• This season combines patience and timing to find the right moment to say what is in your heart.
