Sunday 10:15 AM

Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.
1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us.
Share a recent entry from your Life Journal with the group.
2. This Sunday we looked at the comforting words from Jesus
as recorded in John 14:1-6. What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you? What encouraged you, or posed a challenge to you?
2. This Sunday, the message focus was on the 7th and last “I am” statement in John: “I am the vine.” What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you? Which ones encouraged you or posed a challenge toyou?
3. Read John 15:1-16. In this lengthy metaphor, with Jesus as the Vine and God as the Vinedresser and we as branches, how does it relate to our daily Christian walk? What do verses 7 and 16 in particular have to say about how we pray and what we are to pray for?

John 15:1-16

4. In these sixteen verses the word menô (abide, remain, dwell) occurs nine times. What does it mean “to abide in Christ?” When we are “abiding in Him,” how is this reflected in our behaviour, in our feelings, in our conversation, in how we relate to fellow Christians, friends, or strangers?
5. Fruitfulness is directly related to “abiding in Jesus” in verses 2, 4, 5, 8, and 16. What does it mean for a Christian to bear fruit? What fruit have you experienced in your Christian journey? In what area(s) do you wish your life to be more fruitful?
6. Take a moment of silence to consider how God is speaking to you through these verses. Is He asking you to make changes or to do something new? What concrete steps of response do you want to take? How can your group support you in these steps?
