Session 2
You Have One
1. Tell about a time when you had good news to share and couldn’t wait to tell your family and friends. Why were you so motivated to tell people?
2. Read John 1:43-51. Why do you think Philip was so eager to tell Nathanael about Jesus? What do you think his tone and energy level was like?
3. Have you ever met someone like Nathanael who was skeptical at first about Jesus? What can we learn from Philip’s response?
4. How do you think Nathanael felt when Jesus revealed that He already knew him?
5. Imagine Nathanael is with you today. How do you think he would tell you his God-story?
6. If we pay attention, our lives are filled with God-stories. Is there part of your story (a challenge, some suffering, a blessing) that you’ve seen God use (or could use) to bless others?
7. Who are three people in your life who don’t know Jesus? Write their names on the back cover of this book as a reminder to pray for them during Lent—that they may be open to God’s work in their lives. Are there any next steps God is calling you to take with these individuals now?
8. Pray for your “three.”
9. Don’t forget to start reading the Gospel of John this week!
