“Here, therefore, is a reason why God speaks to us: Not only to move us to do what He wants, but to enable us to know Him so that we may love Him.”

“The Bible is much more than just rules and commandments. It provides a picture of reality; of how things are with God and His creation. It enables humans to know God, what He is doing, and what we are to do. And this is where true well-being lies.”

“I have never known someone leading a spiritually transformed life who had not been deeply saturated in Scripture.”

Caroline Thom:
“I had to humble myself and go back to home-base, asking Jesus to renew my mind in the way I saw my need for the Word in my life. This semester it has been amazing to watch as His words and His thoughts naturally overflow out of me as I am filling myself with scripture. I no longer want to encounter people and daily life without the power of His Word overflowing into all that I do and all that I am. Consistently feeding my Spirit with the Word affects the way that I love and see others, the effectiveness of my ministry as a worship leader, and the ways in which I encounter and hear from the Spirit throughout my day. My source, which was once head knowledge and Bible stories spoon-fed to me, has now been replaced with the Spirit saturated, living and active power of daily studying and meditating on the Word.”

Clarke Lasse:
“I’ve become convinced that memorizing Scripture is THE crucial key to meditating on it deeply and unlocking its greatest potential and power in our lives. The discipline of memorizing scripture has profoundly impacted my own spiritual journey and relationship with Jesus. This practice has strengthened my faith, deepened my prayer life and produced kingdom fruitfulness far more than any other spiritual discipline. Every other spiritual discipline in my life has become much stronger and more effective through memorizing scripture.”

5. Meditation
“Meditation is not a time for technical studies or analysis. Just as you do not analyze the words of someone you love, but accept them as they are said, accept the Word of Scripture and ponder it in your heart, as Mary did. That is all. That is meditation.”
